Manners in Islam

Below Ahadith are reminders that we, as Muslims, should not lie even for the sake of having fun and/or to make people laugh - something which is done especially on the day of 1st April called April Fool's day. Let's all make sure that we are not part of any such unIslamic traditions.

"Woe to the one who speaks and tells a lie in order to make the people laugh at it. Woe to him. Then again, woe to him." [Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasal]

"...I guarantee a house in the middle of Paradise for the one who leaves off lying even if it be in jest..." [Tirmidhi]

"None of you should take the property of his brother in amusement (i.e. jest)..." (Abu Dawud Book 41 #4985)

"...It is not lawful for a Muslim that he frightens a Muslim." (Abu Dawud Book 41 #4986)
